Pitbull Releases “FTM Miami Heat Remix” Video for Miami Heat #WhiteHot

Written by Joyce (@PitbullSource) on May 23

From CBS Miami

The Miami HEAT has partnered with international music sensation and Miami native Pitbull, to create a White Hot HEAT-themed version of his blockbuster hit, “Feel This Moment.” Pitbull personally re-wrote and remixed the song specifically for the 2013 White Hot HEAT Playoffs.

The team debuted the new version of the song as well as a remixed version of the music video during Wednesday’s Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals when the HEAT took on the Indiana Pacers.

In the music video, Mr. 305 is encouraging HEAT fans from around South Florida to support the Miami HEAT as the team continues its 2013 playoff run. Vibrant images of HEAT players, HEAT fans and the HEAT Experience figure prominently in the video.

“Pitbull is one of Miami’s native sons and we’re thrilled at the chance to collaborate with him on this creative project,” said Eric Woolworth, President of The HEAT Group’s Business Operations. “HEAT fans are clearly going to ‘feel the moment’ as well as the love when they hear the song and watch the video.”

“Feel This Moment” was originally released in February. The global smash hit features pop superstar Christina Aguilera. The duo surprised fans over the weekend at the Billboard Music Awards with surprise appearance with A-HA frontman Morton Harket.

Interview Highlights (Source)

- On Global Warming and his career trajectory in music…
“It’s all about a global movement, it being a global market, making global music. So I’ve gotten a chance to tour the world, learn from so many different cultures, different sounds, foods, dances. And I’d just like to apply that to the music. Global Warming, it being that that’s exactly what we’re doing right now. We are creeping up on the world, little by little. Something that people before maybe didn’t believe or they heard about it but they didn’t understand it. And I think now it’s when it’s coming to full reality.

“You constantly have to defend your success. Because, see, the more successful you become, the more of a target you are. With that said, I think Dr. Dre had one of the best lines I ever heard. He said, ‘As hard as you work for your money, there’s four or five people working harder to take it from you.’”

- On the name ‘Pitbull’…
“I think they’re misunderstood, sometimes misrepresented and fit a stereotype. So as far as myself, the reason that ‘Pitbull’ came across was because I feel I have the same mentality of the dog or the breed for the simple fact that don’t believe in the word ‘lose’ — and when they do, fight to the death. And with me being in the music business, in the entertainment business, you constantly have to be on your toes, constantly being reinventing yourself, and constantly coming up with new ideas, and finding ways on how to be creative enough so it’s new, cool, sexy to the public. So with that said, that’s where ‘Pitbull’ comes from — the fight. You know, I’m in love with the fight. But at the same time, pitbulls are illegal in Miami, so it makes me the only pitbull with papers. The only legal pitbull. [Laughs.]”

- On escaping the drug trade through music…
“I try to show that: Look, I came from something. I don’t necessarily wanna stay there. So therefore, that’s what music was all about, was the escape. So I want to teach everybody out there the same thing. Sometimes, in order to inspire, you have to let them know exactly where you’re from, so that they know exactly that you know where you’re going.”

- On being called ‘commercial’…
“The whole point is to touch as many people as you can, to get the message across. It’s something that my grandmother used to do with the food when I would eat. Lettuce and tomato, I didn’t necessarily like it. So what she would do is, she would put it under the rice and the steak, which I loved. And next thing you know, after a couple bites or a couple meals, let’s say, I was asking for the tomato and the lettuce. Through the music, it’s the same philosophy, if you apply it. Because there is a message in the music. I am telling you things that really are happening.”

- On his Epic role…
“When they showed me who I would be playing, which is Bufo, a toad, businessman/hustler, entrepreneur — everything’s business, not personal — I said, ‘Yeah I’m definitely game, and would love to be a part of the Epic opportunity.’
“When I first seen the toad Bufo, he was naked. When I came back for the second session, they had dressed him in a suit, and he was the only toad in the forest with a suit on. I loved it!”

- On education outreach…
“The most powerful thing that I’m involved with is education, which I feel is the real revolution. And our first school, we’ll be going up in one of my old school neighborhoods: Little Havana in Miami. And it’s called SLAM, which is Sports, Leadership, And Management. And that is a way of, I would say, engaging, entertaining and educating the kids through things that they really love. So this one being more about sports. It doesn’t necessarily mean you have to become an athlete. You can become a therapist, a broadcaster, an attorney. But it keeps them engaged and creating a curriculum that they love to come to school.”

Pitbull Talks Bufo, Music, His Cuban Heritage & More in Reuters Q&A!

Written by Joyce (@PitbullSource) on May 22

From Reuters:

Rapper Pitbull has taken his blend of American pop music fused with Latin beats from the clubs of Miami to international pop charts, but he now is crossing into film with his first acting role as an animated character in the upcoming movie, “Epic.”

ent-130226-pitbulljpg-50a05bb4832da569

Here is the Q&A:

Q: What do you make of this whole animation world you got a chance to work in?
A: Before I didn’t understand what it meant to put a voice to animation and see it come to life. But I’m always game for trying new things. I love how those artists could see my voice on the character before it was even drawn up.

Q: How did the animators bring your influence to the character of Bufo the frog? Did they capture your essence?
A: They captured a piece of my essence, absolutely. The suits, the business/hustler, knowing how to navigate his way through the good and bad. Bufo knows how to play the middle. It’s business, not personal for him. I think they captured about 75 percent of my essence. The gestures, the hand movements, the way he walks – I think they watched me a lot in the studio when I was there.

Q: Many musical artists have made their way to film. Why haven’t you transitioned sooner?
A: It’s all about timing. I’ve had projects on the table but I didn’t have the time to do them. This caught me at the right time … I hope there’s a sequel because I would love to see more of Bufo in number two. I have a lot of good ideas for them, ideas that would capture the rest of that 25 percent of the essence they may have missed.

Q: Your stage moniker ‘Pitbull’ is named after a dog that tends to get a lot of bad press unfortunately.
A: Pitbulls are misunderstood and that’s the same thing with me when I first came into the music business. Being Cuban-American made me politically incorrect. My whole life was trying to make people understand that we all come from the same place. It’s the same with the dog. The pitbull is a very loyal, very loving dog that doesn’t understand the concept of losing. I believe in fighting hard for what you believe in and never giving up.

Q: How important is your Cuban heritage?
A: It’s very important. I’m Cuban-American, first generation. The Latin culture is everything. But I’m very careful to not let that box me in. I want to represent (my heritage) and I’m proud of who I am, but it’s about letting others know that we are just like everybody else. We don’t want people to judge us, we want people to understand us, to see that we’ve gone through the same things everybody else has gone through and suffered the same struggles.

Q: What were some of the pivotal moments in your career that really changed things for you?
A: The record that took it global was “I Know You Want Me” (in 2009). Before that, I lived in the clubs and in the streets as far as my music. But that song took it to the next level. “Give Me Everything” (in 2011) was a turning point. This record coming out (on May 28) called “Outta Nowhere” will be another turning point I think.

Q: How so?
A: It’s a different side of me. It’s going to show everything that we’ve been speaking about here – motivation, believing in yourself, not giving up. With this record, I wanted to come out of nowhere, which is why the name is perfect.

Q: “Live It Up” is your third collaboration with Jennifer Lopez, following “On The Floor” and “Dance Again.” What’s your partnership like?
A: Jennifer is a hard worker, very professional, gorgeous and she’s a walking empire. Anytime I’m around her, I’m watching, learning, studying. It’s a natural combination, like a student and teacher. I’m a student all day. I think it would be an honor for Jennifer to watch me grow and say, ‘That kid did learn.’

Q: With all your recent success, do you feel like you’ve gotten the respect you deserve? Do you feel more relaxed now and less needing to prove yourself?
A: No, I’m never relaxed. I think complacency is a cousin of death. As far as respect, whether they do or don’t, to each his own. But I do tell you this much, this is just the beginning. I promise you, it’s just the beginning.

Pitbull To Collaborate with Jazzy B?

Written by Joyce (@PitbullSource) on May 9

According to the Times of India, Pitbull could possibly be teaming up with Punjabi entertainer, Jazzy B.

pit-horz-jb

Last month, Pitbull collaborated with Priyanka Chopra on her single “Exotic” (which the track & video will be out soon!)

The American rapper and musician, Pitbull, who is collaborating with actress Priyanka Chopra in her upcoming music single ‘Exotic’, maybe now teaming up with Jazzy B next. According to sources, a music recording company based in Punjab and UK has approached Pitbull to team up with Jazzy, and he is in the process of giving his consent in principle.

“Since Jazzy has been recording songs with our music label for a few years now, the music company decided to approach Pitbull to join Jazzy. The kind of music Jazzy does is immensely popular in the UK and Canada besides pockets of India. So, if Pitbull also comes on board, the music producers think it should be an international sellout,” says the source.

This information hasn’t been confirmed yet, so stay tuned!

Billboard Biz: Pitbull Drives Into Top Five on Social 50 Chart

Written by Joyce (@PitbullSource) on May 3

From Billboard Biz:

Pitbull and Justin Timberlake make vaults into the top 10 on Billboard’s Social 50 chart, following busy weeks for each star, while affinity for the late George Jones results in his making the survey for the first time.

The Social 50 ranks the most popular artists on YouTube, Vevo, Facebook, Twitter, SoundCloud, Wikipedia, Myspace and Instagram. The chart’s methodology blends weekly additions of friends/fans/followers along with artist pageviews, song plays and reactions.
